After only one year of using the program, we have seen growth in all the students utilizing My Reading Coach. This growth is reflected in classroom performance, ISTEP scores, and most importantly, the students’ confidence in his or her academic abilities. We are excited to see the students’ continued growth and success this school year.

For a number of years we have been looking for a software program to address the needs of students for Tier II and Tier III intervention. My Reading Coach addresses all of the key areas of reading, provides the repetitions necessary for some students and the minute tracking of progress that is so important. In addition to these critical elements, the fidelity of implementation works well within the student day. The support from Close Education has been outstanding.

There is a huge void in quality materials for the moderate, severe and profound population. Project Discovery fills that void.

My students LOVE the My Reading Coach program! They like being able to come into my room, log themselves into the program and work independently at their own pace. Their self-confidence has soared and daily I see specific techniques learned from the program used across the curriculum in their work.

My class has multiple levels – I have 3 students labeled MI, 4 MH and 4 MO. I have students with limited to no movement ability and others who can move without difficulty. My mental ages go from birth to 5th grade. This curriculum allowed me to teach some things that I have never done. I think I would have missed some of the terms and concepts if this material had not been written so completely. It also suggested activities but allowed me to do them in a way that benefited ALL of my students. I found out that my students did not have any idea what things were heavy, soft, light or cold. They learned the concepts and words when they worked on the bagging part of the Grocery kit.

I think my students are beginning to realize there are jobs/careers out there that even with some pretty severe learning concerns they can be successful! I love teaching something so practical with students… They are a ‘breath of fresh air’ in the middle of my day! Again, kits are enthusiastic! Parents have actually told me that their student comes home and shares thing with them about this class.
